And The Top Overall Winner is : Hummingbird Restaurant Yangon

under NZ Chef Wayn lead and Myanmar Chef Zin Moe Win with Junior Chef Than Tun Aung,

Myanmar Fisheries Federation (MFF) and Myanmar Chefs Association (MCA) teamed up again for culinary challenge and sustainable development in Myanmar s marine and hospitality sector,- a best friendship since 2005.

At the Myanmar Convention Center joined the ” Agri Myanmar 2015 ” exhibition with Livestock Myanmar 2015, Aqua Fisheries Myanmar 2015 to promote next to healthy – organic grown vegetables and fruits, brown rice and sustainable fishery products to a global platform as well to the fast growing Myanmar Tourism Industry and the growing demand for high quality healthy & organic food products of best international quality standard,- all gown in Myanmar on chemical free land.

A main task was to promote young – junior Chefs of Myanmar ( under 25 years ) , build teams where a senior chef gives as buddy support to one junior chef as Team. Educate through the tandem working together, establish, plan and train together a three course menu days before the competition – Soup, Appetizer and Main Course with Brown – Vitamin B1 rich – Rice.

Near 50 chefs registered with 23 team from all over Myanmar with 6 chefs came all the way from Mandalay to compete.

Well organized by the MFF all kitchen and food products best arranged, all chefs team s in time and a wide exchange of views, set ups and decoration was seen by all.

Fresh Sea Bass, Butterfish, Big Eye Snapper, Soft Shell Crab, Thalapia were to choose by the chefs , to cook any kind of taste in a free style competition. Organic vegetable from Asparagus to Broccoli, different mushrooms, pumpkin — more than 25 kind of and certified Organic Brown Rice was available for the chefs,— which gave them 2 hours for the preparation to cook 4 portioneach dish. One for judging, one for display and educational de briefing and two for public voting, where invited guests could try and give a rose to the team they liked most ,- the most roses created the Winner of the Day .

The Highlight was also ” NO MSG ” ( No Monosodium Glutamate or KYOMO as in Myanmar called ) , cooking with all the richness nature has already in its vegetables, seafood and rice. MSG officially banned in Myanmar and illegal to import or sell in Myanmar for health reason by the Ministry of Health and Commerce.

” My Junior Chef asked his parents 100.000 Kyat (100 $ US) and used it for training of the competition,- than some days ago he asked me if he can borrow 30.000 K from me for more training……to win the competition… ” said Htin Kyaw Thura executive Chef of the Hotel M.

These are the moments which make the culinary challenges important and valuable, when the young chefs come out and get active next to their usual duty time and create their dish make an effort and train for perfection. Every one wins here the chef, the own hotel , the colleges and the seafood and Myanmar farmers.

And The Winner is : Hummingbird Restaurant under NZ Chef Wayn and Myanmar Chef Zin Moe Win with Junior Than Tun Aung, the small, so very much committed to training and young chefs exposure, Hummingbird Restaurant managed to sent three teams and all performed at a high culinary quality with Hummingbird 1 taking the All Over Winner, best Main Course and Best Hygiene awards.

The Big Golden Trophy, 250.000 Kyat and two DICK Professional Knife sets from Germany were best earned.

Followed by Belmond Governors Residence 1 team and Chefs Zin Min Oo and Junior Soe Min Kyaw coached by Micheline Star trained Executive Chef Stanny.

Next to the 1nd Runner Up with Trophy and 200.000 Kyat , also achieved Best Organic Brown Rice Award.

Third was no surprise as already since years always a Culinary Gold candidate at competitions, 2nd runner up with 150.000 Kyat Team Sandar with Chef Myo Sandar Htun and Junior Chef Pyae Htwe Nyi Nyi ,– excellent as Chef Myo Sandar started as Independent without Hotel Support behind her, an excellent performance with saw also the Best Soup Award and two Gold Medals of course.

Chefs Couple Kyaw Kyaw with Junior Chefs Zin Myo Nwe took with two gold medals the 4th rank,

the Rose Garden 1 team took Best Appetizer with chefs Aung Naing Oo and Junior Kaung Myat Thu.

Best Public Vote Winner 14.10.2015 went to One & Only Restaurant Mandalay , Chef Chit Min Thant & Junior Khin Thaw Thar Moe.

Best Public Vote Winner 15.10.2015 went to Park Royal Hotel Yangon coached by Pastry Chef Aung Myo Lwin with Chefs Aung Kyaw Kyaw Tin and Junior Chef Sa Hman Ko Htoo Aung.
